We are a family of 2 Adults 1 child 11 yearsold
We are flying into Narita airport, travelling to Shinjuku for 4 nights.
Then travelling to Hakuba for 6 nights.
Then going to Kyoto for 2 nights.
Then going to Osaka for 1 night
Then flying out of Osaka.

Would it be cheaper to buy a rail pass or individual tickets?

Hello there,

Looking at your route, I would buy individual tickets. A JR Pass would need a little more travel in order to pay off. Think of a return to Tokyo after Osaka.

You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
