According to the how-to movie, I just show my JR-pass in the JR gate and then I'm free to pick a train? I don't need to have a ticket at all when travelling, I just show my JR-pass?
If there are no seats available and I didn't reserve one, do I have to stand or do they frown on sitting on the floor?
Thanx a million!

Hi there,
Yes, you can use the JR Pass as your only ticket, just show it and get on the trian.
However seating on the floor may be a bit strange, sometimes people stand in the side compartments on ltd. express trains.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
