Hi there,

I'm planning a trip from late April to early May with my boyfriend. We want to go from Tokyo - Mt. Fuji - Kyoto - Osaka - Hiroshima - Tokyo. I was researching the Japan Rail Pass and it doesn't cover all the lines that we would use so I'm not sure if I should purchase it before we leave or just pay as we go. Does any one have any suggestions?

Thank you!

Hi there,

The JR Pass covers travel between Tokyo - Kyoto - Osaka - Hiroshima - Tokyo and you can use the bullet train between all these cities. Using a 7 or 14 day JR Pass for the above route would allow you to make nice savings compared to purchasing normal tickets.

Fuji is a bit of a different story, as there are different areas around Fuji that can be visited. We have a detailed about that here.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
