hyperdia and reservation

Hi,
first question: trains shown by Hyperdia are all of JR or how to see what is JR or private lines.

second question: when Hyperdia remarks "reserved seats Yen..." does this mean that we have to make a reservation before entering the train? No possibility to make reservation from JR-side means "booked" and no possibility to ride?

Thank you.

Hello there,

1.) We have a detailed post on Hyperdia here. That will explain the details to you.

2.) The JR Pass covers all costs for JR lines and you don't have to pay anything extra for seat reservations.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Hi and thanks very much.

Does this mean that I have to go to a JR counter for the reservation (when it is marked at Hyperdia) before each ride by train?

Thanks again.
