How to count the valid days of the Rail pass

I would like to know how one can count the valid days/hours of the rail pass. For example, if I board the train in the last day of the 7-day pass, do I have to reach to the destination before the end of the day (before the last hour of my pass), or it is OK to get on the train before the last hour of the expiration day even if the last hour is passed at the arrival station.
Thank you for your attention.

Hi there,

The JR Pass is counted in full days and the first day of use, no matter what time you start using it, is counted as a full day.

However you are allowed to finish the train ride if you get on the train before midnight. You'll have to pay a limited express fare if you change trains after midnight.

Does that help?

Hi Syahera,

Yes the 7 day JR Pass would offer you great value if you use it from day 1 - 7. Possibly you may have to purchase some additional tickets for travel to Fuji, as not every region around Fuji can be reached by the JR Pass. I would advise visiting Kawaguchiko, the first of the Fuji Five lakes. It is very beautiful and easy to access from Tokyo.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
