Hi,

I'm planning to buy Hokuriku pass as I plan to visit following places:
Nagoya (i arrived in this city), Gero onsen, Takayama, Shirakawago, Okuhida, Shirahone and Matsumoto.

What sequence do you recommend, in order to maximise the 5 day pass?

Does the Hokuriku pass cover bus from Takayama to Matsumoto?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Travel to Matsumoto is not included in the Hokuriku Area Pass. The nationwide JR Pass does cover travel to Matsumoto.

As for a route. You could do Nagoya - Takayama - Shirakawago/Okuhida - Gero Onsen and then Matsumoto.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

If you plan to go to Kanazawa, add it after Shirakawa-go. That would make for the easiest route.

Takayama is nice to visit for 1 day, as it is quite small and everything can be seen in a single day.

Kanazawa is a bigger city and I would suggest 2-3 days.
