Hi,

My husband and I are planning a 2 week trip to Japan. Here is our plans, I needed help understand whether it's worth buying one or two weeks Japan Rail pass, or individual tickets. Can anyone help me please?

Narita to Tokyo
3 days in Tokyo
4 days in Kobe (visiting a relative), with two day trips to Osaka and Himeji
1 day in Kinosaki
2 days in Kyoto
2 days in Hiroshima and Miyajima
2 days in Tokyo
Tokyo to Narita

Many thanks,
Milena

Hi Milena,

Here is a little breakdown of ticket costs without the JR-Pass.

Narita --> Tokyo ¥ 2,740
Tokyo --> Kobe ¥ 14,070
Kobe --> Kinosaki-onsen ¥ 5,560
Kinosaki --> Kyoto ¥ 4,510
Kyoto -> Hiroshima ¥ 10,590
Hiroshima Miyajima ¥ 940 (return)
Hiroshima --> Tokyo ¥ 17,850
Tokyo --> Narita ¥ 2,740

For a total of ¥ 59,000, the 14-day JR-Pass is ¥45,100 saving you atleast ¥ 13,900. Plus you can use it on local JR-Lines in Tokyo and Kobe.

PS: I left the trip to Himeji out as I was unsure if you would travel there by JR-train.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
