Hi there!

Arriving around 1:55 should be no problem at all. Trains ride until midnight and a trip Tokyo - Osaka only takes about 180 minutes. You can make seat reservations the moment that you buy your tickets at any JR Office, including the one at Haneda Airport. April 4th is not especially busy and I buying tickets/reserving seats the moment that you land should be not problem at all.

Hope this helps!

What I want to know now is we are leaving Osaka on the 14th of April 2014 at 1055 AM via cathay pacific but flying out from Tokyo's Narita International Airport.. Is there a night trip to get us to Narita by about about 7 AM... How long will it take us with JR from Osaka to Narita - i read like about 7 hours??? If no train at night - what can you suggest? I try to avoid staying in Tokyo for 1 night if possible... Is there a website JR timetable where I can look up myself??? so i can decide hotel accom... thank you very much

Hi Mercy,

Leaving at 10:55 AM makes it (almost) impossible to use the train on the same day from Osaka - Narita Airport. A better option would to stay in Tokyo or near the Airport for the night. You can use Hyperdia.com to look up train schedules and other route information. Also see [our blog post on how to plan with Hyperdia.

Hope this helps too!

we are staying in japan for 12 days (osaka and tokyo)... my questions are: 1) can we just get 7 days JR pass while in Osaka (we buy it here and validate when we leave tokyo to osaka.? 2) can we just take thelocal/ normal/subway train while touring tokyo? 3) can we buy train ticket on the day we go to Disneyland/Disneysea with no problem OR do we need the JR pass? thanks

Hi again!

1.) If you do buy a JR Pass, then be sure to purchase one outside of Japan as it is not sold within Japan. You can activate it at Tokyo station.

2.) There are a lot of local trains going trough Tokyo and you can use the JR Pass to travel around on the JR Network, however other kinds of transport such as the Metro are not covered.

3.) You can either just buy a normal ticket or use to JR Pass to travel to Disneyland Tokyo, both options are fine :)

Take care!

thanks again :-)
i heard from few people that buying a 14 days JR pass is cheaper than buying individual tickets around tokyo (big savings).. how much roughly 1) ticket from haneda airport to tokyo (shinjuku hotel) 2) return tickets from shinjuku to disneyland and disneysea. when you said JR does not covered by Metro, is there any other option (train line) to go around tokyo that is covered by JR.. we have a child so we want convenient and easy access with trains. Is JR passengers mostly tourist?

thanks daniel... your email has been very useful to us and we're all getting excited!

regards,mercy

Goodmorning,

1.) Tokyo - Haneda is ¥ 620

2.) Shinjuku - Disneyland ¥ 210

The JR is enough to reach most places in Tokyo however for some places such as Asakusa or Odaiba additional transport such as the metro would be needed. Travel during rush hour is always crazy, no matter the transport method. I'd suggest trying to avoid traveling during rush hour if you have a child with you.
