Fuji Five Lakes to Hakone

Hi,

I've checked the info at It says: "The Japan Rail Pass is not valid on either bus, while the Hakone Free Pass is valid on the Odakyu Hakone Highway Bus until Gotemba but not on the Fujikyu Bus."

Any idea how to use JR Pass on our way back from Kawaguchiko? Should we travel to Tokyo first?
How about going to Yokohama from the five lakes? Must we pass through Tokyo too?

Thanks,
Dwi.

Hi there,

Both travel within Hakone and to Kawaguchiko is generally not covered by the JR Pass.

Still there are savings to be had. Coming from Kawaguchiko, take the Fujikyu line to Otsuki station. From there the JR Pass can take you to either Tokyo or Yokohama. The Fujikyu line is 1,140yen /one way.

You don't have to via Tokyo coming from Yokohama. Here is an example.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
