Fluctuations in the JR Pass Price

Good day to you all,

I was intending on buying the JR Pass last month, but since my wife and I decided to postpone our trip to next April I decided to wait. Last month the price for a 21-day first class ticket was $666 and now it is $712. Is the price expected to keep rising? or is it going to decline?

Hi there,

The JR Pass prices you see are based on the Yen prices. Since the exchange rate changes on a daily basis we also have to adjust prices accordingly. The base price in yen always remains the same.

I would be working on Wallstreet if I knew what the exchange rate would do next :)

Hope this helps,
