Hi I am travelling a family of 5. 3 children 16,15,11 years.
1st Osaka for 1 night
2nd Kyoto for 2 nights
3rd day Hakuba for 7 nights
Back to Osaka for 1 night

Am I better buying a JR rail pass? Can you still buy a 5 days/in 14 flexi pass? Do you buy the rail pass in Australia before you leave and then validate it when you arrive or do you purchase after you have landed in Osaka?
Which trains would I catch to get me from the airport- Kyoto-hakuba-Osaka?

Hi there,

I checked your route for the best options and must conclude that the best way to go about this would be to buy normal tickets as you travel. This because you spend a lot of time in Hakuba and there is not flexible pass that covers this area of Japan.

You can use www.hyperdia.com to look up train routes.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
