Hi,
I'm travelling with my boy to Japan in April 2015.
He is only turning to 6years old in July 2015.
As such do I still have to buy the JR pass for him?

Does the eligibility go by the year the child turn 6 or after they cross their date of birth?

Hi there,

Children below the age of 6 ( 5 and below) travel for free. Do note that you'll be expected to take the child on your lap if the train is busy and he won't be entitled to a seat. You may want to consider a child's ticket if you want to be sear of a seat for him.

Age is calculated by birthday.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
