I am going to be traveling in Japan from 7/9-7/19. I would like to go to Nikko, Kyoto, Biwako, and other cities around Kyoto, would the nation Wide JR pass work? Does it work for Shinkansen?

I am Chinese citizen with US Green card.

Hi there,

Yes, a 7 day JR Pass would work well here. It covers travel to Nikko, Kyoto, Biwako and many more places around Kyoto (such as Nara, Osaka, Kobe and so on).

The JR pass is valid on all Shinkansen lines, however Shinkansen services by the name of Nozomi/Mizuo are not included. You can take the Hikari/Sakura Shinkansen instead. These travel the same route and the only difference is that they stop at more stations on the route.
