Hi

1) My son was born on august 2004. we are traveling next month and i would like to buy the jR pass, can we buy a child ticket as he is not yet 12 ?

2) We are traveling to Tokyo / Kyoto / Osaka, should we buy a full Japan pass or is there any restricted pass for tokyo / osaka / kyoto?

thanks
Sankar

Hi Sankar,

1.) You can buy a child pass as long as your child is below the age of 12. The day of purchase is leading here (and not the day of exchange/activation in Japan).

2.) The JR Pass is the best option here, there's no other pass that includes travel between Kyoto and Tokyo and would help you make savings.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
