cheapest way to get to tokyo from narita airport for family of four

Hello Daniel and everyone,

Thank you for responding to my previous email.
I have a dilemma. I am planning to buy a JR pass but we are in Tokyo for one extra day that the JR covers.

Here is our itinerary:

we arrive at November 23, 2013 at Narita airport at 7:30 PM. we have a hotel at the airport. The next day on November 24, we are going to Tokyo. If I activate my pass to take the train from the airport, I will not have my pass for the last day. so what is the cheapest way to go to Tokyo from narita airport (since the hotel has a shuttle to the airport) and maybe buy also bus tickets inside Tokyo.
Are taxis cheap in Tokyo or expansive?

Thank you

Hi there!

The most economic way to travel from Narita Airport - Tokyo is with the 900yen bus. This bus is 900 yen and travels between Narita Airport and Tokyo station.

An alternative is to take a local train, you can take the JR Sobu/Narita Line Rapid line which is ¥ 1,280.

Lastly, consider the Skyliner + All day metro ticket. This package costs ¥2,600 and includes a one way ticket on the Keisei Skyliner to Tokyo (this is a very convenient and fast train) and an all day metro ticket, which is great if you want to do some sightseeing on your first day in Tokyo.

I would avoid taking a taxi from Narita Airport to Tokyo, they are very pricey and can run up to 20,000yen (200dollars).

I hope this helps!
