Hi Daniel,

I have bought my JR pass and among other places i want to visit is Gotemba.

I have a few questions.

  1. From Tokyo station to Gotemba, which transportation is easier? Bus or train ride?

  2. If bus is the answer, is my JR Pass cover the non stop bus from Tokyo station to Gotemba?

  3. And is it possible if I want to cover both places, Gotemba and Kawaguchiko in one day, by train?

Thank you.

Hi there,

The JR Pass does not cover the bus to Gotamba as it is run by an other company. You can use local JR lines going there but it will take 2-3 transfers.

You can visit Gotemba and Kawaguchiko in one day and use a bus between them but again please be aware that these busses are not included in the JR Pass. There is no direct train connection between both.
