Hi we are a family of 4 travelling to Osaka for international Karate tournament .we want to see as much as possible in 10days. Can we use the Jr pass to go to see Mount Fuji? and can we travel by bullet train from Osaka to Tokyo on the same JR pass. What would be the best pass to buy ?
Thanks

Hi there,

Yes the JR Pass covers all Shinkansen (bullet rail) lines. This includes the bullet train between Tokyo and Osaka. The JR Pass does not cover the full route to Fuji but there are some good savings to be made there as well.

The best way to travel to Fuji with the JR Pass is via the station called Otsuki, you can travel the last part from here to Mt Fuji by private rail, which entails an additional 1,100Yen. You can find more about traveling to Fuji on this website.

I would suggest buying the 7 day JR Pass to cover your return Tokyo Osaka and any additional long distance travel you may plan.

I hope this helps!
-Daniel
