Hi,

We(6 pax) will be arriving Narita on 16 April morning.

Here are the places we would like to visit, (not in order)
1. Toyama, Alpine route, Kanazawa, Shirakawago (3 days)
2. Kyoto (2 days)
3. Kawaguchiko (1 day)
4. Tokyo are, Fish market & Gotemba (2 days)

Could you please advise:
a) with these places, is it better to purchase the JR Pass or individual sector ticket?
b) which route would be better?
- Tokyo to Toyama, Kyoto, Kawaguchiko, Tokyo or - Tokyo, Kawaguchiko, Toyoto, Toyama etc

Appreciate any suggestion or comments

Thank you very much

Hi there,

Yes, using a JR Pass here could certainly help you make savings.Just a return Tokyo - Kanazawa using a 7 day JR Pass will save you money.

As for the route, my advise would be to do Tokyo - Kanazawa, day trip Shirakawago - Toyama and Alpine route - Kyoto - Tokyo and then make a day trip from Tokyo to Kawaguchi-ko. You could also make a day trip to Kawaguchiko at the start in Tokyo but getting there involved a bit of travel and its not easy to do from any of the other cities in your itinerary.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you very much, Daniel

I have another question:
I'm planning to stay 1 night in one of the hotel on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.
In order to save some time and money, I am wondering if i could do the alpine route 1 way then end at Toyama - Kanazawa and do the day trip to Shirakawago from there.

Could you advise whats the best way in terms of stops (where?) and convenience.

Thanks again.

Hi again!

Yes, that would certainly work. I think the best place the stay would be at the end of the route somewhere in Tateyama, Toyama or even Kanazawa.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
