Hi! I have planned a 7 days trip in Japan as follows. However, I am not sure if I should purchase the JR Pass or the other available Passes.

Day 1 - Arrive in Haneda Airport (23.00) ...would like to know if there is any train or buses from Haneda Airport to Tokyo under JR Pass or if the public transport during these hours still operates?

Day 2 & 3 - sightseeing around Tokyo...Definitely Fish Market and Sumo wrestling.
And possibly surrounding areas like the "electronic city" and Edo-Tokyo open air architectural museum.

Day 4 - Mt.Fuji. The Shibazakura Festival

Day 5 - Takayama

Day 6 - Shirakawa-go (Ogimachi)

Day 7 - Kamakura

Day 8 - Tokyo & Haneda Airport.

Need your advise on how best to use the JR Pass and which is the most effective Pass to purchase.

Thank you!

Hi there!

I do think that a 7 day JR Pass is worth considering. Because you'll it will help you make savings over normal ticket prices and makes for very convenient travel. For instance a normal return Tokyo - Takayama is ¥ 30,020 the 7 day JR Pass is ¥ 29,110. I'd use the JR Pass for the return Tokyo - Takayama and then try to cover as much as possible with it. This way you would really make the most of your pass.

As for your arrival, it is not possible to activate your JR Pass that late so I would start using it on the 2nd day. This way you can use it to return to Hakone Airport on day 8.

Hope this helps!
Daniel
