Hi there,
My family is travelling in December this year.
We'll be leaving Tokyo on Saturday 9th December, 2017 to visit the Lakes area and Mt. Fuji.
I'm very confused about which train I can use to get there.
We will have an (as yet unused) 7 day pass. (This is because we are 5 days in Tokyo first, without needing it, as we will use our suica card only.
We are staying near Shinjuku Station, so this is the handiest station for departure to the five lakes area for us.

Q's
1. I have seen references to the Narita Express, N'Ex 8. I have seen that it runs on a Saturday. Perfect! But then I read somewhere it stops in September 2017? Can anyone confirm this? Bummer!
2. If not the Narita Express, then what? We want to leave from Shinjuku, have as few transfers as possible and want to use our JR Pass.

Thankyou for your help.

Hi,
I don't know where you are getting your info that the N'Ex stops in September. Says who?
Even if it were so, there is still the 1000 yen bus, the [Keisei], and the orange limousine bus. The last option can take you all the way to Shinjuku, but at 3100 yen it's also the most expensive.

You also may not be giving your whole itinerary, but if your travel is all one way as you describe, the JR pass would not pay off for you.
