Hi we are arriving in japan in sept 18 and planning to purchase the 7 day pass. If we buy our pass individually is there a chance that we wont be seating together? How does the seating arrangement work? And Can we pick our own seat or the pass already includes our seating? It'll be our first time visiting. So we need help understanding on how the pass works. Thank you

Hi there,
You will always be seated together, as long as you make the seat reservations together in Japan. It does not matter if you purchase the JR Pass together.
For all the details on how to make seat reservations see:

Hope this helps :)
