Hi guys,

I've got a trip coming up, 21 days in Japan, which I originally thought meant I should get a 21 day pass. But seeing as I'm going to be spending a few days in Hokkaido at the start and a few days in Kyushu at the end, would it be more cost effective to just get the 14 day pass for my time in between? Or would it actually cost me more considering I would have to pay for individual trains to explore Hokkaido and Kyushu? Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi there,

Its hard to say without knowing your itinerary exactly. If you are flying in via Hokkaido and out of Kyushu, then a 14 day JR Pass may be enough. However you may want to use a 21 day JR Pass if you fly out via Tokyo or Kansai.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
