Hi,

I was planning to buy 14 days pass for the nation wide JR pass. Just before I wan to buy I realize that my trip is 15 days in total.

After a few days of considering and comparing I still stuck on settling this problem. I hope someone can give me an advice with the most budget way to go around.

Travel period 12/04 - 26/04

12/04 Narita Airport 1830
13/04 Tokyo
14/04-18/04 Osaka
19/04-21/04 Hakone (I ll buy Hakone pass for 3 days 2 nights)
22/04-23/04 Aomori
24/04-25/04 Tokyo
26/04 Narita Airport 1100

Plaese advice for the best pass I can purchase for this itinerary.

Million thanks.

Cheers,

Sharon G

Hello Sharon,

I think a 14 day JR Pass would be the best option. There is plenty of travel by going to Osaka and Aomori and you would get good value for your money by using a 14 day JR Pass here. You could then simply buy a one way ticket to Narita Airport for your last day.

I think your route looks good but was wondering why you visit Aomori? Is there a festival or something? Generally it is not a very interesting place and going up to Hakodate or Hirosaki could be more interesting.

Hope this helps and let me know if I can help with anything.

Hi Daniel,

Absolutely grateful that I got a reply from you.

This trip, my main point is sakura. Suppose to have the trip from end of april to early may but due to some issue, it will be mid to end of april and not the best time for sakura. Near the end of april, aomori and hirosaki seems to have the highest possibility of sakura viewing. Hence, there is Hirosaki Sakura Festival from 22/04-04/05, so I ll spend 2 days one night there near the end of my trip hope that there will be some surprise. May I know what's your suggestion please?

Do you know how much is one way ticket from tokyo to Narita airport? Is it possible that I can book the seat on the first day I arrive in Narita airport?

Thanks for reading.

Hi again,

Aomori could be nice if you go for the Sakura festival. My recommendation would also be to go up a little north and possible include Hakone. Fort Goryokaku is very beautifull during the Sakura and you could also include a trip to Matsumae. Which is the only castle town in Hokkaido.

A one way ticket to Narita Airport is as low as 1,000yen using a bus, 1,200yen using local trains and 3,000yen using an express train like the Narita Express. You can book a seat for the Narita Express in advance if you like. Local trains don't have reserved seats.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
