Hello,

I plan to take a trip in Japan in September and would like to know if it is worth it to buy a 14 day JR pass.

Will this JR pass work for the following trips:

  1. Haneda Aiport to my accommodations in Hachiōji, Tokyo (close by Minamiosawa Station of Keio Line)
  2. Hachiōji, Tokyo (Minamiosawa Station of Keio Line) to the major sight seeing stops in Tokyo (Shinjuku, Shibuya etc)
  3. Hachiōji, Tokyo to Hida Takayama
  4. Hida Takayama to Kyoto
  5. Kyoto to Osaka
  6. Kyoto back to Hachiōji, Tokyo
  7. Hachiōji, Tokyo to Mt Fuji
  8. Hachiōji, Tokyo to Yamamoto

Thank you,

Hi there,

The JR Pass can be used for most of your travel. I think going for a 7 day JR Pass makes more sense than a 14 day JR Pass, given that you could cover Tokyo - Hida Takayama - Kyoto - Osaka - Tokyo with it. This way you can cover all otherwise expansive travel with the JR Pass. Then buy local tickets to travel within Tokyo.

Also note that Hachiōji does have a JR station but the Keio Line is not part of the JR.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
