questions & answers: using the japan rail pass

10 days itinerary with jr pass

10 days itinerary with JR pass

My sister and I are going to visit Japan on Nov 28 to Dec. 6.
We will arrive in osaka at night and depart in osaka also by night too.
nov. 28: check in hostel
nov. 29: osaka tour
Nov 30: universal studios
The rest of the days, i do not know.
We want to go to kyoto, tokyo probably to see disneyland and the city, see the beautiful castle and autumn trees. Glimpse of mt. Fuji. If we can see it closer much better.
Can you help us to plan with full use of 7 days JR pass.
When is the best time to start using it?
What are the other transportation we need to purchase.
Thank you.

Hi there,

As an example, you could have a look at this 7 day itinerary (be it in reserve) or at least get an idea of what you can do in Japan.

A 7 day JR Pass will work wonders if you plan to use it for a return Osaka - Tokyo and a little more here and there. If you want to see one of the most amazing castles in Japan, be sure to include Himeji as well. You can get there easily with the bullet train from Osaka or Kyoto.

For Fuji, I would recommend making a stop over at Hakone. You can have a great view of Fuji from there and it is directly on the route between Osaka - Tokyo.

The JR Pass will cover most of your travel, be sure to use it at least for the bullet train. You may still have to purchase local tickets at times for transport not covered by the JR Pass, such as the metro.

Hope this helps,
