Worth to buy a JR Pass or not

Hello,

My itinerary is as follow:

I will be arriving in Tokyo Haneda, stay for 3 nights, then go to Kyoto, stay for 2 nights, then Osaka for 4 nights, and fly back to Hong Kong from Kansai Osaka airport.

Is it worth it to get a JR pass ? In Kyoto, I 'm thinking to go to the Bamboo grove.. Haven't really checked other places in Kyoto I want to go yet, but mostly local travels in Kyoto. Same as Osaka.

Do you suggest getting a JR pass? or buy each way separately? Please advice.

Thank you so much.

Cheers,
Kristine

Hello Kristine,

For this itinerary it's better to purchase tickets as you go. A 7 day JR Pass would be a good option if you made a return Tokyo - Osaka though.

Kyoto and Osaka are very close and a normal ticket from one to the other is only 560 yen.

For Kyoto, a couple of places to visit that are always great include, Arashiyama, Fushimi Inari, Nishiki Market and Kyomizudera temple.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
