Hi I'llbe in Japan for about 20 days and would like your advice on which JR pass would fit my needs.
My itinerary is as follows:

Day 1-2- tokyo (fly in t o narita)
DAY 3- Hakodatte
(Is it better to fly here or take shinkansen?) Day 4- chuo bus tour of hakodatte
day 5- otoru or sapporo
day 6- biei/furano or day triip here from Saporro
day 7- wakkanai- cape soya
day 8-10- loop around back to Sapporo

day 11-fly to matsuyama
day 12- imabari
day 13-17 bike shimanami kaido
day 18 -19 back to osaka to fly out from Kix

What type of rail pass do i need- does this itinerary seem rusheddo i have time to go to miyama for a day, if so, how will i get there?

Thank you in advance for any help!

Hi there,

For me your itinerary does look quite busy and there's a lot of travel for sure. I think looking at a 7 day JR Pass for travel from Tokyo - Hakodate and also to Wakkanai and back to Sapporo. This would get you the best savings and you can use the new Hokkaido Shinkansen to Hakodate using the JR Pass.

I am not sure where you would fit in a visit to Miyajima, possible after finishing the Shimanami Kaido.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you Daniel!
Can you recommend a pass or transit option for the Shikoku leg of my trip? Also that last part was Miyama, Kyoto. What is the easiest way to get there?

Also, is the Soya line covered by JR pass?
Thank you for your help!

Hi again!,

I was looking at options but I think buying normal tickets for Shikoku/Miyajima would be the best option.

The JR Soya line is included.

Hope this helps too!
Daniel
