I would like to do the following in order of preference from Tokyo (staying near Tsukiji Market):

  1. Visit Mt. Fuji san 5'th Station (any)

  2. Visit Hakone Open Air Museum - website: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e5208.html - (near Chokoku No Mori Station on Hakone Tozan Railway)

  3. At least one way to or from Tokyo on Shinkansen (bullet) train. The other way can be anything - bus, normal train or bullet train.

  4. Visit Mikawaya Ryokan garden (near Kowakidani Station on Hakone Tozan Railway)

Leaving early morning. No limit on how late to return at night.

Please advise:

  1. Best itinerary

II. How to buy tickets & when (before coming to Japan or on day of travel or before day of travel)

Thanks

Sanjay

Hi Sanjay,

1.) The best itinerary is very much subjective to your own personal preferences. Just the weather alone can completely switch an itinerary to amazing with good weather to not worth it during bad weather. The key is flexibility. My advice would be to look the places you wish to travel but have an alternative ready too.2

2.) You can buy the JR Pass online here before you go to Japan. Normal tickets can be purchased at a ticket machine or ticket window on the day of travel.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
