Hello, I'm traveling to Japan on Oct with my family the main reason for going is to go to F1 in Suzuka but also we would like to take advantage and visit other cities, I bought my JR passes I just want to ask you please to help me to plan my itinerary and have the correct name of the station that I need to go. We arrive to Kansai airport and we will stay 2 days at Osaka We will stay at Sheraton Miyako i saw that JR has a line in the Osaka metro system can you help me to know if I can arrive to the hotel by this JR line., after that I'm planning to take the train to Hiroshima 1 day trip (i don't know which station will be better to arrive) also the same Day we will use the JR ferry that is included to Miyajima (where do I need to take this ferry). This same day I'm planning to go to Kyoto and spend 2 nights after that we will go to Suzuka for the F1 (which station do I need to arrive). That day we are planning to go to Hakone spend one night there and come back to Osaka. Also I've been reading some reviews and I don't have it yet clearly ,..with my JR passes do I need to arrive at the station and reserve my seats even if I got the green tickets? And also how much time in advance I need to arrive before my train leaves to reserve my seats? Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Fernanda

Hi Fernanda,

There are many local stations but I would recommend focusing on the main stations. In Osaka there are 3 that are most important for tourists, the Osaka station (for access to the Umeda area), Shin-Osaka (here you can get on the Shinkansen) and JR-Namba (for access to Namba, Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi).

The closest station to your hotel for JR is called Tsuruhashi which is on the Osaka Loop line and also connects to Osaka and Shin-Osaka.

For Miyajima, take the Shinkansen to Hiroshima station and from there a local train to Miyajima guchi, you can get on the ferry from there.

Also good to know is that the Shinkansen station for Hakone is called Odawara, from there local transport runs throughout the area.

Seat reservations are recommended but most of the time not required. Weekends are when most people travel, so reserve your seats 1 day in advance then.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
