Travel around Osaka and Near-by Areas

What is my best option if I am based in Osaka for 10 days and want to explore Osaka (via the Osaka Loop Line) and go on day trips to surrounding areas such as Kobe, Nara, Himeji, Amanohashidate and Kyoto? Would single train tickets be the cheapest option? Or are there any discount passes you would recommend?

Hello there,

In general I would recommend buying normal tickets if you just stay in Kansai. In some areas there are local passes that can also be useful.

In general the following can offer good value:

Osaka unlimited pass, offering free transport and access to different tourist spots in Osaka.

Kyoto 500 yen bus pass. Offering unlimited bus rides within Kyoto, a normal ticket is 230yen per ride, so it's easy to make good savings.

Hope this helps,
