Back to Itinerary check

Hello - I am trying to figure out if the 7-day JR rail pass makes sense for the itinerary I am planning:

Tokyo to Kyoto
Kyoto to Nara (day trip)
Kyoto to Osaka
Osaka to Narita Airport

This would be for myself and one traveling companion. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Unsure how to book seat reservations on the Shinkasen.

Thank you!

Hi there,

Here's a small list of normal ticket prices, to see if a JR Pass would be useful.

Tokyo to Kyoto ¥ 13,600
Kyoto to Nara (day trip) ¥ 1,420 (return)
Kyoto to Osaka ¥ 560
Osaka to Narita Airport ¥ 16,700

For a total of ¥ 32,280 or ¥ 3,180 in savings so far! The 7 day JR Pass (¥ 29,100) can also be use for local travel on the JR network in Osaka/Tokyo and also for a limited extend in Kyoto.

Here is how to make seat reservations.

Hope this helps!
