what is the best way to fit these into our 7day trip? we bought 7day JR pass, planning to spend 2 nites in Tokyo, then day trip to Hakone to see Mt. Fuji but would proceed to whichever route "Kyoto" or " Osaka" is best? which of these two would be a better homebase for the rest of our sightseeing? Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima and in what order? We are leaving on the 8th day via Fukuoka. does this makes sense? thanks

Hi there,

Your itinerary works well, as you travel down to the south of Japan using the Shinkansen.

Have a look at this Shinkansen map to get a feel of the route. The station for Hakone is Odawara. From there either Kyoto or Osaka could be used as your base as both are very close and on the Shinkansen. In other words, pick the one you like :)

Hope this helps,
Daniel
