Hi there,

I am going to Japan late april - may for about 8 days. Does anyone have any recommendation?

I am landing in Haneda and want to travel out to Nagano area and back to Tokyo. I can speak Japanese so am looking for a more local experience. Traveling with my hubby.

Thank you.

Hello there,

You could consider visiting Kanazawa and the Japanese Alps, since you will be traveling to Nagano. From there is would be easy to travel on to Kanazawa using the Hokuriku Shinkansen. An other nice place to visit from Nagano is Matsumoto and the close by Kamikochi.

Also if you like hiking, consider doing the Kiso Valley.

I can also give you more recommendations if you let me know what you are interested in.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your reply. If I were to keep to Tokyo - Matsumoto - Tokyo route, will buying a JR pass still be sensible?

I am interested in scenic route and good onsen. I noticed that north Nagano might require too much travelling so I might decide to skip that all together.
