Hi there,

I will be going to Japan from the 25th April till 06th May. I will be flying to Tokyo (Haneda) and plan to directly go to Hakodate. However I would like to go to either Niseko for 2 days stay and than go to Sapporo before going back to Tokyo. I would like to know if it would be worthwhile for me to get the 7 days JR pass or 14 Days for the below itinerary:

Tokyo to Hakodate, stay 1 Night
Hakodate to Niseko, stay 2 Nights
Niseko to Sapporo, one day Tour
Sapporo to Tokyo, Night Train / Sleepers Train if available
Tokyo to Yokohama, one day tour
Tokyo to Kamikochi
Kamikochi to Takayama
Takayama to Osaka

Look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

Hello there,

Going all the way up to Sapporo is quite a route and takes quite a bit of time, at the same time you can make amazing savings with the JR Pass if you do so. Both a 7 day and 14 day JR Pass will help.

Good to know is that there are no night services between Sapporo and Tokyo covered by the JR Pass, so you have to travel by day.

Travel to Takayama and Osaka is also quite costly, so there too I recommend using a Japan Rail Pass.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
