Hi,
By my calculations, compared to the cheapest unreserved seats you can get, you'd come up slightly short - but even so, given the convenience that the pass gives you, I'd say get the 14 day pass. There are a few variables however. Taking the train to go from Takayama to Matsumoto is way longer than taking a bus (not covered by the pass). Plus if you take any day trips from Tokyo, you'd get more savings from the pass.
I also hope you are aware that there is no rail access to Shirakawago - you need to pay for the bus, and make reservations for a seat before you board. Same thing for the Alpine Route - it is not covered by the pass, and it's unclear if you plan to back track, or go to Toyama and then back to Matsumoto.
City subways are not covered by the JR Pass either.

If your plans are still fluid, I suggest you calculate the fares yourself. You can see regular fares, routes and schedules on Hyperdia.
Under "More Options", be sure to uncheck the Nozomi box since you can't ride that train using the pass.

After seeing Kyoto, you should not skip Nara either. In Nara, the Todaiji Great Buddha is a muse see place. If you are also seeing Tokyo, Osaka in the day is not that urgent - but don't miss Dotonbori at night.

Good luck.

Does JRP cover shinkansen?

Is there any JR from Toyama (Dentetsu) to Matsumoto?

Thank you?

Yes, the shinkansen is covered - but you can't take the Nozomi or Mizuho shinkansen.

Getting to Matsumoto by JR is easy, as you can see here.

Thank you Mr. Daniel for your answer. But the trip by JR from Toyama to Matsumoto is only available in the morning and afternoon. Actually i need it after finishing the alpine route at about 6 PM. Unfortunately no trip by JR in the late afternoon. Or you have another suggestion for me. Thank you.

Hi,
There are trains leaving all day long. There are at least 5 trains leaving after 6:00 PM.
Simply change the departure time and re-check. As you can see here
