We will be in Tokyo at middle of April for six to seven days and stay in Shinjuku area than head out to Takayama for two nights. I have checked the Hyperdia schedule and the trips are long and many transfer, but there will be two new train service from Tokyo to Kanazawa that by pass Nagoya soon. Can you tell me more about those two train - Kagayaki and Hakutaka that depart from Tokyo please ?

Can We take train or bus from Kanazawa to Takayama after a little look around ? Where to store the luggage ?

After Takayama than we head out to Kyoto for six night that including one night at Hiroshima.

We head out to Kawaguchiko for one night and this trip also long and many transfer, any suggestion ?

We will stay in Shinjuku for rest of two night than fly out from NRT.

14 days JR pass will do it right ? Thank you very much for your help.

Hello there,

There will be two routes from Tokyo - Takayama once the Hokuriku Shinkansen are put into service coming spring. The first is to take the Shinkansen from Tokyo - Nagoya and from there the limited express train to Takayama. The 2nd new route, will be to take the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Toyama and from there the limited express train to Takayama. Both routes are covered by the JR Pass.

To get to Kanazawa, you'll traveling by limited express train from Takayama - Toyama and from there the Shinkansen to Kanazawa.

An alternative is to travel via Shirakawago by bus. This is also a very nice to trip to make, you could either stay the night there or just walk a round a couple of hours before traveling on. Both work, do keep in mind that Shirakawago is small and can be fully explored within a couple of hours. The bus is not covered by the JR Pass.

Hope this helps,

Thank you, Daniel-san

Shirakawago is the reason that we travel to Takayama. Since the travel time cut short from Tokyo we may have extra time to visit Toyama or Kanazawa, I just have to find out more information about those two places. Thank you again.
