Starting my trip from Osaka, Hiroshima, western Kyoto, Takayama and Nikko then fly out from Tokyo. Will like to know is my sequence correct? Do I have to buy JR pass to have some cost savings?

Hello there,

Yes that's how I would do it as well. A 7 day JR Pass gives you outstanding value, given that you cover Osaka, Hiroshima, Takayama and Nikko with it.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,
Thank you so much for your reply. May I know what is the best and shortest way for me to travel from Takayama to Tokyo? Or would you suggest I travel back to Osaka to take my flight back to Singapore instead? Looking at the journey, be it to Tokyo or back to Osaka is almost 5hours. Just wondering which way is the best to take my flight back since Takayama should be the last city to visit?

Hello again!

The difference in time is small so you could go either via Osaka or Tokyo. I guess it comes down to personal preference or ticket prices for the airline.

Hope this helps too,
Daniel
