Hi there,

For your itinerary I recommend using a 7 day JR Pass. There is plenty of travel here and that results in nice savings using a JR Pass covered to purchasing normal tickets. Just making a return Osaka - Nagano nearly pays for the JR Pass itself, so just think about the amount of savings with all the additional travel.

Hope this helps!

HI Daniel San

Thank you for your recommendation. I have a 5 year old who is travelling with me during this period . I understand children under 6 years old do not need a ticket. During this period from 29 - 7 Jan , I am not sure if this period is peak and should I get him a child ticket? So that we can seat together?

I will be getting a Ordinary JRPass.
Thank you
Damiel

Hi again!

Trains will mostly be full during the new year period, so you will either have to take your child on your lap during busy times or buy him a child tickets.

It basically comes down to paying extra for convenience.

Hope this helps!
Daniel
