Hi there,

Kyoto and Osaka are very close together (30min/560yen by train). Generally its best to just buy normal tickets for this part, as well as for local travel. You can buy an ICOCA card to make this all a bit easier. Nara is also close to Kyoto/Osaka, and the same advise applies here.

Himeji is a bit further away, here you can look at using a JR Kansai Pass.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi again!

Yes, its certainly feasible and includes many nice places.

On the way back from Himeji you could make a stop at Kobe and do a little sightseeing there. (Its directly on the route, stop at Sannomiya station).

And spending the evening in Kyoto city is really nice to experience the local atmosphere.
