Hello again! I remembered asking for advice here the last time we went on Japan. Thanks to the one who guided our itinerary we had a amazing time in Japan. I just want to have a check first before anything else

Our trip will be on April 28 to May 7 first question will we make it for Sakura?

I don't have an itinerary yet but we will be going around Nagoya, Osaka and Tokyo. Our port of entry would be on Nagoya and will be going out from nagoya too. So i wonder if everything will be still covered by JRpass. Is there any attraction not covered by JR? Im pretty knowledgeable already around Osaka and Tokyo so i would like to know more about Nagoya. Thank you in advance!

Welcome back :)

To start with the Sakura, it's always hard to predict, in the last couple of years the Sakura was best viewed at the begin of April. I am afraid that it is unlikely to see Sakura near the end of April, unless you go all the way up to nortern Tohoku or Hokkaido.

As for the JR Pass, it will certainly be useful for travel to Osaka and Tokyo. Within Nagoya there are not many JR lines and most travel is done by metro/bus. At the same time, Nagoya does offer easy access to many great places with the JR, such as Takayama and the Shizuoka area. You could consider a 7 day JR Pass for travel outside Nagoya and then buy normal tickets for local travel.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thanks i guess we'll have to go uppper part of japan for sakura.

Btw i checked that from chubu airport to nagoya station are not covered is this correct? Our arrival time in nagoya will be around 8. Can we make it to osaka the moment we arrived from nagoya? Or should we book in a hotel for one night in nagoya. We are confused we think that booking will be a waste since it will be only for one night.

Hi there,

That's correct. Travel between the Airport and Nagoya is done using the Meitetsu and is not covered by the JR Pass.

Arrival at 8 is indeed a little late, although technically possible making it to Osaka at that hour, I would advise staying near Nagoya to play it safe. A plane can be delayed, or there may be an other reason for delay which could make for a difficult situation. At the same time, I do understand that you may want to get as much travel done as possible.

Thank you for answering! I guess we would stay in the hotel after all. We will try to travel around Nagoya for three days so we can use our JRpass on the fourth day. Is the "One Day Bus and Subway Pass" a good one to use inside Nagoya? I saw its a unlimited ride for bus and subway which will do while we are on Nagoya. Or is there a better ticket for our days in Nagoya?

It's a good value ticket if you do a lot of sightseeing in Nagoya.

Personally I found that I could see most things of interest in Nagoya in 1-2 days (again that may just be me) but you may want to look at making a day trip somewhere outside of Nagoya. Mie makes for an amazing option.

Hi again!

Other places you could visit include Hirosaki, Hachinohe or even Hakodate in Hokkaido.
