My itinerary plan for travelling in Japan as following:
Day 1: arrive Narita aiport, transfer to Tokyo, go around Tokyo (imperial palace, eating out)
Day 2:Tokyo-Yokohama-Tokyo,go Tokyo tower at night
Day3: Tokyo-Kyoto
Day4: Stay in Kyoto
Day 5: Kyoto- Osaka
Day 6: Osaka-Nara
Day7: Osaka-Tokyo
Day 8: Tokyo-Hakone-Fuji mountain
Day9: Disneyland
Day 10-11: Tokyo and filght back

We plan to buy 7 days JR for our travel and active the card on day 3, please advise us is it useful and saving money?
And can we use JR for all the route we plan(from day 3- day 9)?

For the other days, like from Narita airport to tokyo, from tokyo to yokohama, which transportation is easy for us to take and how much does it cost?

thank you for your helps
Best Regards,

Hello there,

Yes, activating your JR Pass on 3 day would be a great choice. This way you can cover most f your travel with the JR Pass and make good savings. The 7 day JR Pass is about the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto, so basically any additional travel is what you save.

Good to know may be that the JR Pass covers most of the above travel. The only place here you may have to relay on other transport is around Fuji and Hakone. However even there the JR Pass will help you make good savings, as it covers most of the way there.

For arrival, consider the 1,500yen Narita express ticket.

Hope this helps!

Dear Daniel san,

Thank you for your useful reply.

I have some more questions:

Your answer means that I can use JR for almost routes I plan, except the route to Hakone, and Fuji? The JR can be used within Tokyo also?

I heard that I can use JR for shinkensen from Tokyo to Kyoto and Osaka to Tokyo,am I right? Do I need to do any booking reserve or just come to the station and take the train?please advise.

If I buy a JR, can I buy online and when I should buy it? how long before my departure? And how I receive it if I buy online?

Your reply would be so helpful to us.

Thank you & Best Regards,

Huyen

Hi Again,

Yes the JR Pass can be used for travel in Tokyo, the JR Network in Tokyo is great. You can also take the Bullet train to Hakone (Odawara station) but from there other transport methods are used.

I would advise making seat reservations but going so 15minutes in advance is perfectly fine during normal days.

We ship the JR Pass using FedEx, so it will arrive very quickly. The JR Pass can be exchanged up to 90 days after purchase. So you can buy it at any time before departure, although I would recommend buying it at least 30 days in advance.

Hope this helps too!
Daniel
