Hi,

Can you help me as how I can use the 7 day JR pass in my visit at Kyoto places of interest?

  1. Zen garders of Ryoanji Temple
  2. Golden Pavilion
  3. Arashiyama
  4. Kyomizu-dera
  5. Higashiyama
  6. Gion
  7. Shijo Kawarachi area
  8. Nishiki Market

Do you have a high level map of the locations of Kyoto JR stations?

Thank you very much.

regards

Hi,

A JR Pass is of very limited help for Kyoto. You can use it to go from Kyoto Station to Arashiyama, and down the Nara Line to see the Fushimi Inari Shrine, Uji City and Nara.

From Arashiyama, you can take the Keifuku Dentetsu train (not covered by the pass) to get close to Ryoanji, and Kinkakuji (the Golden Pavilion) is within walking distance of it.

You also might consider a 500 yen bus day pass to get around the city. To navigate around, Google Maps is one your best bets. There are also many Android and i-phone apps.

Best of luck.
