First trip to Japan would appreciate any suggestions and thoughts/tips on my planning.
We arrive in Osaka , staying 3 nights based midway between Osaka and Kyoto with day trips to Kyoto and Nara, then would like to go to Shikoku for 1 or 2 days : Iya valley and surrounds, maybe grab a car because I read it is difficult to get around Shikoku ??Would like to include Dogo Onsen in Matsuyama [ did I read somewhere that Dogo is having some special anniversary this year ? ]
Then based 3 nights in Fukuyama , day trips to Hiroshima, Tomonoura ,Miyajima maybe ,or cycling the Shimanami Kaido. Alternatively we could cycle our way over to Ominochi from Shikoku, and have our bags ferried over ??
From there one night not yet planned , then to Tokyo for 4 nights before heading out of Narita I'm hoping we can get around this loop with the JR pass , and thinking that the 14 day pass will be good value , even if only one trip Osaka-Tokyo .
Was also keen on a trip to Mt Koya in Wakayama , but not sure how will fit that one in . So many places to see , so little time. Was wanting to get a taste of all sorts of Japan . What do you think?
Cheers Sam

Hi Sam,

I think you've got some great places in there! The JR Pass will be a big help as well, you can use it to travel to Shikoky and Matsuyama - so there's no need to rent a car.

You could add in a visit to Wakayama from either Kyoto, Osaka or on the way between Hiroshima and Tokyo. The 14 day JR Pass could give you amazing value, especially when you go to visit both Kansai, Shikoku and Hiroshima before returning to Tokyo.

Have a great trip!
Daniel
