Hi,

I will be going to Osaka in May but I plan to take day trips around the region. My itinerary is as below.

Day 1 - Osaka
Day 2 - Osaka
Day 3 - Kurume/Fukuoka
Day 4 - Osaka
Day 5 - Kobe
Day 6 - Kyoto
Day 7 - Kyoto/Uji
Day 8 - Osaka
Day 9 - Kinosaki
Day 10 - Kinosaki
Day 11 - Osaka

  1. Will the JR West Pass cover all the areas?
  2. Is the JR Pass still the most economical way to travel to all these places?

Thank you.

Hi there!

1.) Which JR West Pass are you referring too? In any event there's no JR West Pass which covers all the way to Kurume. My recommendation would be to go for the 7 day JR Pass instead. As it does cover all the way to Kurume and you'd already be making savings by just making the return Osaka - Kurume (¥ 15,700 / one way), in addition you would have 6 other days of unlimited train travel!

2.) Yes I do think the JR Pass is the most economical way for your travel.

Hope this helps!
Daniel
