Hi,

Good morning. I would like to check if below itinerary is doable? And would purchasing a JR pass make sense? I can imagine we still have to purchase non-JR cards for local trains/bus. Would you also able to recommend sites to check what places/activities to look for in each locations? It's a very DIY itinerary.

Mar 31-Apr 2 - Tokyo
Apr 2-3 - Odawara/Hakone
Apr 3-4 - Odawara/Kyoto - I am having a second thought which of Osaka or Kyoto would make more sense as landing point from Odawara, and day tours to Kyoto/Osaka/Nara as base point
Apr 4-6 - Kyoto/Osaka/Nara
Apr 6-7 - Tokyo

Thanks for your help.

Cheers, Bryan

Hi Bryan,

I do recommend using a JR Pass from April 1st - 7th. There is more than enough travel here to make good savings using a JR Pass.

While Kyoto, Nara and Osaka are all close together and you could base yourself in any. My personal preference would be Kyoto. Osaka is a metropolitan area, much as Tokyo. While Kyoto is the cultural capital of Japan.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
