Hi there,
I'm planning to visit Japan from the last week of may to the first week of June

My itinerary in chronological order is:
4 nights Tokyo
3 nights Kyoto
3 nights Osaka
- 1 day trip to Hiroshima/Miyajima - 1 day trip to Himeji/Kobe 1 night Hakone
1 night Kusatsu
1 night Tokyo

Do you suggest buying the 14 day JR pass?
Should I visit somewhere else over Kobe?
Is this itinerary doable? how would you modify it?

Thanks for your help!

A 14 day JR pass would pay off very handsomely. As for skipping Kobe, it is all up to your interests of course. Himeji is a must see site (and don't miss the Japanese gardens next to it), but you did omit Nara which is a much better place.
For the Tokyo area there are some very good day trips you could take and also enhance the value of your JR Pass - Nikko is an excellent place to see, as well as Kamakura/Enoshima for a day.
