Hi there,

We're very happy that we can get some help here... :-)

This is our itinerary. Is a japan rail pass an option for us?

18 nov arriving Osaka Kansai airport; 09:15 am; take train to Hiroshima
19 nov Hiroshima + Miyajima island
20 nov Hiroshima --> Osaka
21 nov Osaka
22 nov Osaka (day trip to Nara)
23 nov Osaka --> Kyoto
24 nov Kyoto
25 nov Kyoto --> Yudanaka (snow monkey)
26 nov Yudanaka --> Tokyo
27-nov Tokyo
28 nov Tokyo --> five lakes (maybe Kawaguchiko)
29 nov five lakes
30 nov five lakes --> Tokyo
01 dec Tokyo
02 dec Tokyo
03 dec Tokyo
04 dec Tokyo --> Narita Airport depart 11:25 am

We would like to know if we should buy a rail pass, and if so, for how many days.

Thank you so much for your help.

Kind regards,

Hello Karima,

This looks like an amazing trip to make! I like the variety of places included.

For the JR Pass. you will do most travel within the period 18 nov - 26th nov. Given that this is more than 7 days, my advise would be to use a 14 day JR Pass. You can also use the JR Pass for local travel around Tokyo on the JR Network. As well as part of the way to Kawaguchiko.

If you have the time, I would also recommend a day trip from Tokyo to Nikko.

You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.

Hope this helps,
