Hi,

I am trying to figure out if the rail pass is worthwhile. I arrive in Tokyo and spending 3 nights there before going to Hakuba for 8 nights (transfers already arranged).
After Hakuba, I am planning to travel from Tokyo to Kyoto via the trains and spending four nights there (one of these days I want to go down to Hiroshima for a day trip). I will then need to travel back from Kyoto to Tokyo to fly out.
I assume the 7 day pass would be the best option for me and that I should activate it after Hakuba?

Thanks for your help!

Hi there,

Yes a 7 day JR Pass would be the best option. You would make the best savings by using it from Hakuba - Tokyo - Kyoto - Hiroshima - Tokyo and make amazing savings at the same time.

Note that the JR Pass can't be activated directly at Hakuba, it's best to do so in Tokyo before hand and then select the first day of use for a later date.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
