Do I need JR pass

12/4/15 fly from Haneda to Hakodate
12/6/15 - Lake Toya ( JR pass )
12/8/15 - from Lake Toya to Otaru ( JR pass)
12/10/15 - from Otaru to Sapporo ( JR pass )

Do we need to purchase JR pass ?

Hi,
Unless you have significantly more itinerary than what you list, a JR Pass would not pay off. And if you were only traveling in Hokkaido, a Hokkaido Rail Pass might make more sense.

Thank you Toreneko. Do I have to go online to buy the Hokkaido rail pass ? Am I able to join some of the local tour organized by the local people ? You uv been a great help, thanks again.

Hi,
I suggest you read the info on how to buy the pass.
There are likely some tours - you could contact your local travel agency, or ask at the tourist info office upon arrival.
Do your research ahead of time as well. Have a look at this tourist info.

Of course there are many other good places to visit as well in Japan.

Thanks Toreneko , your info is very useful . I have checked the Hokkaido Rail Pass they're so much cheaper with only 3 to 4 days flexi pass. Yes, we will buy the Hokkaido rail pass . As for the day-tour we will chech it out when we are there no need to book online .
