Hi,

I planned to travel Japan from 27/4 to 6/5. Our group includes 2 couples (4 pax) and 2 children (3 years old and 2 years old)

1/ 27/4: from Ho Chi Minh City to Kansai Airport
2/ 28/4: arrived Kansai airport, go to Kyoto and stay there 4 days. go to Osaka for visiting Osaka castle in the morning and return kyoto. Go to Osaka for diner and visit Shinbashai, return Kyoto.
3/ 29/4/: go to Osaka to visit Osaka Aquarium, back to Kyoto in the afternoon. In the evening go to Osaka to visit Umeda Sky Building and explore OSaka by night, then return Kyoto.
4/ 30/4: visit Kiyomizudera, Golden Pavilion in Kyoto
5/ 1/5: visit Himeji Castle and Kokoen garden.
6/ 2/5: go to Hakone and stay 1 night in a ryokan. Purchase Hakone Free pass
7/ 3/5: Circle the region with five different means of transport (train, cablecar, ropeway, boat and bus) by HAkone Free Pass. visit Owakudani . In the evening go to Tokyo and stay there for 3 nights.
8/ 4/5: Visit the imperial palace, Sensoji Temple, Tokyo Skytree, Akihabara
9/ 5/5: Visit Disneysea and Ginza District.
10/ 6/5: Go to Narita airport to fly back to Vietnam.

My questions:
1/ Is the above itinerary ok and suitable for traveling with babies? How if we go to the 5th station of Fuji Mount with babies?
2/ Should we buy the JR pass 7 days and Hakone Free pass?
3/ Should we stay 4 nights in Kyoto or Osaka or split 2 days of each city? As we have babies, we are afraid of check-in check-out many times. But if Osaka is worth to stay, we will consider.
4/ Could you please recommend me hotel booking website offering best rate (Japanese website is ok).
5/ Which area should we stay in each city? Our budget is below 70 USD/room/night.

Many thanks if you could help us clear above questions.

Hello there,

1.) That looks like a well planned itinerary, I don't see any trouble in terms of routes. I have never traveled with a baby in Japan and unfortunately have little experience to show here. I guess it's the same as traveling somewhere else, if you can travel a lot with your children that it is fine. If you can't, well Japan is not different in that regard. Here is how to access Kawaguchi 5th station.

2.) I would recommend buying normal tickets for this itinerary, as rail travel is limited in terms of distance. The Hakone Pass could offer good value though.

3.) Personally I'd prefer staying 4 nights in one accommodation, Kyoto and Osaka are only 30 minutes away from each other by train.

4.) Have a look at websites that specialize in travel to Japan, these generally offer the best rates. Examples include rakuten travel and Japanican.

5.) Osaka will probably the most budget friendly option.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Gd afternoon Daniel,

Many thanks for ur kind feedback.

As I know that my travel will be in the golden week of Japanese. Do I have any trouble if travelling by Railway and Shinkansen without reservation?

By the way, I wonder if we could see cherry blossom during visit time.

Have a nice weekend.
Tks,
Thao

Hi again!

Trains are pretty much all filled up during Golden Week, be sure to get your reservations 2-3 in advance if possible.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
